Gepanta 2013 Game 3 vs Free Company

The third game I faced a Free Company army, a very tough opponent.

This time I defended, so I was confident I could create the difficult going avenue to attack the flanks of the tiny enemy army.

In this game the terrain was terrible for me, forcing to deploy in a limited sector and to rely on a flank march. The enemy was too powerful to fight him in the open

Waiting for the flank marching corps I manouvered on the left to outflank the enemy, that countermanouvered a RBdS corps to cover that flank

Before the enemy defensive system could be completed, I attacked the enemy line exploiting he gaps to hard flank enemy RBdS. The offensive was unsuccesful, I lost several elemnets killing no enemy

The flank march arrived on seventh bound. It was too late, Free Company was in position to counter it

Free Company stretched its line to cover all the front. I faced RBdS and IKnS in the open.

Incas were not strong enough to attack such enemy, and Free Company did not dare to attack inside the wood. After several turns of skirmishing, the game finished with a 12-13 score.

The game was frustrating. For the first time I had a bad terrain set up, and the opponent did not try to attack me, just manouvering to parry. The only real change I had, would have been an early arrival of the flank march, that could roll the enemy line when still not in position to cope with this threat.

This battle showed me the problem that Inca has to behave aggressively against a defensive oriented opponent, having no terrain to cover the advance. Well, I guessed that, still the game experience is worth much more than the theory.
