Gepanta 2013 Game 2 vs Ottoman
Second round I met Dennis with an Ottoman army, with the list composition I used at Britcon 2012. I know very well this army, and I hoped to have a good terrain to face the many quality cavalry.
Unfortunately I attacked, and this was the battlefield
My defensive position was quite good, but I would have a lot of problems coming out of it to attack the enemy, that was deployed behind a stream that counted as difficult for the infantry and rough for the cavalry. Neither of us was willing to leave the defensive position, so we arranged a draw and played a friendly game, removing the stream.
We both attacked along the right wing. I saw there the weakest enemy troops and the baggage as a prize should I be able to break through
My plan was to exploit flanks and gaps, looking for the weakest spots in the enemy line
My vanguard was destroyed, but tied down many enemy troops burning pips
The Ottoman was very aggressive and charged with the cavalry in the wood
On the far right I was losing more elements, but had better pips and could send there more troops
The dreaded Serbs charged my troops in the open, but were soon surrounded and killed
Fearing the BwS shooting, I pulled back the troops defending the obstacles and charged the turks in the flank
The Serbs after a sharp fight were broken
The Inca had gained the initiative, thanks also to some turns of low pips for the Ottoman
I was losing more and more troops, but the tactical situation was bad now for the Ottomans
It was time for a general advance now. The gap created by the Serbs demise was exploited
Finally the Ottoman broke. I had a corps dishertened and a lot of losses, but all of them counting 1/2 ME. 20-5 for the Inca.
In this game I realized the Inca potential. Lot of pips, excellent troops to manouver, low ME loss counting. Still the troops are very fragile, and need to be committed avoiding a frontal slugfest. The army has a lot of problems to attack enemy in the open, but is powerful in defence.
