Game 3 vs Medieval Spanish

The third round I faced Ale Miguez's maedieval spanish, an army I knew well. I was confident, apart the PkO phalanx I was not afraid of the rest of the troops, I just needed to avoid to be outflanked

I defended and the terrain was again good for me. I flank marched the Ps corps on the left, and planned to engage both enemy wings avoiding the frontal fight with the enemy PkO.

This time I advanced quickly, avoiding to repeat the mistake made against the Ming. The start was very good, but soon I entered a phase of low pips

On the right I advanced to shoot, and the spanish moved forward RKnS to soak the archery, that proved a dismail against the Shot I too.

While on the left the shooting started well, soon I was frustrated by a combination of skilled enemy retreat and low pips to advance. I lost a lot of time to put the PkF in attack position. Furthermore again the psiloi flank march proved to be a waste.

I could charge in a coordinated effort too late. Alex withdrew slowly and too often I punched the air. The charge against the enemy left was a success.

While the spanish left broke quickly, the right resisted, and again low pips denied some opportunity. I put some baits to the enemy RKnS to charge but again the spanish were well managed and avoided unnecessary losses.

When time was called I was one element away from breaking the dishertened spanish right wing. 15-10.

I was not glad of my game management. I lost too much time to position, and I paid for this mistake in the end. Also the geometric setting of the terrain was non optimal. I needed 12 cm more of good going on the left, I positioned badly the difficult going in that sector. Another issue was that again the flank march had no use.

By the way another good game, I enjoyed so far the Mapuche, that I found more efficient than expected.
