The great war between Romans and Sassanids
Our club is playing a kriegspiel style campaing loosely based on Aurelianus wars in 260AD, with each player playing a character. So far, the Sassanid king Shapurmax I has exploited the roman weakness on the eastern front gaining the control of Armenia, putting a puppet king on its throne, and conquesring most of roman Asia, including Edessa. The roman Emperor Peronianus has finally dealt with the gothic problem, and has gathered a big host to fight the sassanid. The two armies met near Edessa and this is the battle we played.
A great victory for the Romans, but not without a cost. The way to Edessa is free now.
