How impetous troops move
Impetous troops are not easy to handle. The following pics will explain in the easiest possible way how execute this move.
When an impetous element should move spontaneously, the first check is if it would end the movement closer to its table edge.
If it does not, then:
A) if there is an enemy in the front projection and in charge reach, move straight ahead and contact it
B) if there is no enemy in the front projection and in charge reach, identify which enemy element is closest
C) check if the impetous element, moving straight forward, would end the move closer or farther away from the closest enemy element
D) If the impetous element would end the spontaneous move closer to the closest enemy element, move straight forward
If it would not end closer, it has two options: it can move straight forward, or it can change direction by the least angle to contact by the shortest move the closest enemy element front/rear, or reach an overlap position
Note that is possible that this situation would happen, this because being impetous is a liability more than an advantage
If the impetous element would go closer to own side table edge, then instead apply one of the three bullets of para 3 pag.30
This is an extremely brief way to check what impetous elements spontaneously advancing will do and must be intended as a basic overview. It is worth reading well the full rule.
