Cham game 4 - Milano 2013 Open
Last game I met Luciano with the Milanese Condotta, the army he used to win Britcon 2012. An extremely difficult opponent with the hated PkS.
I attacked again, and unexpectedly Luciano chosed a lot of difficult features, that created a terrain fortress for his army. He set up well back, waiting to see my deployment and emerge from the cover. All the RKn were dismounted as BdS. I had not many choices, because I wanted to avoid a direct charge from pikes with th ElX. I put them on a flank for a 45° degree fire, covering an outflanking manouver. The corps on my right was just a bait to engage the enemy, the main push would be on my left.
Cham allies were again reliable (8 times out of 8) and I started to advance as planned. First goal was bombard enemy ArtI from distance and destroy it, then engage RBdS
Luciano sent a flying column od swiss pikes to protect the flank endangered, but before these arrived, the ElX started to kill the milanese troops. Terror spread in the condotta ranks
On the right wing, fcing the feared swiss phalanx, I tried to slow it sending a forlorn hope RAxS detachment to threaten the flanks and slow the enemy advance. Immediately a reserve corps of RBdS was committed to bloch the cham auxilia
On the left in the meantime the unexpectd happened. Luciano tired to take pot shots on the RBdS, withdrew all his troops out of danger to focus on the right flank attack. This let me free to do everything at will on the left. I just needed pips.
Cham failed to slow the swiss corps, that emerged from the valley aiming at the nellies.
More and more Swiss arrived, so Cham right wing moved away out of danger, leaving back some pickets to slow enemy.
El X were shooting at will to the almost immoble RBdS in the difficult hill, while Cham auxilia gathered to attack it from three sides. Condotta baggage was plundered.
Once the enemy was weakened by artillery fire, auxilia from two corps attacked and surrounded the troops on the hill. The fighting was sharp. The largest condotta corps broke and ME transmission plus the baggage were enough to break the army. 25-0.
The terrain helped me greatly, and also the decision to not fight on the left wing let me manouver the auxilia unhindered. ElX were decisive.
So I ended the tournament at 75 points and third place. I was happy, Cham proved a tough army to use, expecially with low pips.
